Nuclear War Survival Skills

Lately I've been into disaster preparedness. In my online research, I ran into this gem: Nuclear War Survival Skills. It's an online book that was written in 1979 and distributed by the government. A lot of people believed that Russia wouldn't launch a nuclear attack without clearing people out of it's own cities first (in anticipation of our retaliation) and that since we could detect such mass movements with satellites, we would have a couple of days warning before an attack. During that time, people could prepare by digging trenches in their backyards to use as shelters from radiation.

The book contains detailed information about how to quickly build such a shelter and even tells you how to make a radiation detector from simple household items. Happy digging.
